How to Include Your Dog in Christmas Celebrations

Including Your Dog in the Christmas Celebrations!

Updated 08/12/25

Christmas is a magical time, and it’s important to include your dog in Christmas celebrations to share the joy. From gifts to festive traditions, including your dog in Christmas celebrations strengthens the bond you share while ensuring they feel loved. Let’s explore why and how to make your dog a true part of the holiday cheer.

🎅 Why Should Dogs Be Part of Christmas?

1. They’re Family Too
Your dog isn’t just a pet – they’re a beloved family member. Just as you include your loved ones in the celebrations, it’s equally important to make your furry friend feel involved. This inclusion helps them feel loved and appreciated, creating a stronger bond.

2. Avoid Loneliness During Festivities
Christmas can be a busy time with guests, travel, and events, which might leave your dog feeling neglected. Engaging them in activities ensures they don’t feel left out.

3. Great for Their Mental and Physical Well-Being
A festive outing, new toys, or a treat box can provide mental stimulation and physical activity, which are key to a happy, healthy pup.

4. Perfect for a Puppy’s First Christmas
If you’re celebrating a puppy’s very first Christmas, involving them early helps them get used to all the excitement — the noise, the visitors, the decorations, and the change in routine. Keeping things positive and fun helps build their confidence, and it’s the perfect moment to treat them to something special, like a Puppy’s First Christmas Gift Box.

🎄 Ways to Include Your Dog in Christmas Celebrations

1. Surprise Them with Gifts
Who doesn’t love presents? Treat your dog to a special Christmas Dog Gift Box filled with a festive selection of toys and treats. Not only will this keep them occupied, but it also makes them feel like part of the celebration.

2. Involve Them in Family Traditions
Does your family open presents together on Christmas morning? Let your dog join in! Wrap up their gifts (using dog-safe paper) and watch their excitement as they tear into them.

3. Dress Them for the Occasion
Whether it’s a festive jumper, a cute bandana, or a pair of antler headbands, dressing up your dog adds to the holiday spirit. Plus, it makes for adorable Christmas photos!

4. Prepare a Doggy-Friendly Christmas Meal
While you enjoy your roast, give your dog a festive meal of their own. Many shops sell dog-safe Christmas dinners, or you can make one at home – just avoid harmful foods like chocolate, onions, and grapes. This article from The Kennel Club is full of info about the foods that are dangerous for dogs around Christmas time.

5. Include Them in Holiday Activities
From decorating the tree to watching Christmas films, there are plenty of ways to include your pup. You can even take them to meet Santa at pet-friendly events! And if your dog loves a bit of festive fun, try playing some simple enrichment games — they’re brilliant for keeping your pup busy and calm during the excitement. It’s also the perfect chance to use something like our Christmas Treat Selection Box, which works beautifully for scent games and treat-based challenges.

🐶 Make This Christmas Unforgettable

Don’t forget to include your dog in Christmas celebrations with their own special gifts and treats to make the season extra special. A Woofbox from our Christmas gift range would make the ideal present, delivered straight to your door, ready to put under the tree! It isn’t just about their happiness – it’s about creating precious memories for the whole family. The holidays are a time to celebrate with those we love, and that certainly includes our four-legged family members.
